We made it to Sacramento! The ride was nice, more hills tan expected, but easier than many things we have already had to tackle so we were good. It was nice to be on a bike path with no cars.
We started out a bit late as we left Placerville, California. I washed my bike shorts in the sink and was avoiding putting them on because they did not dry over night. Once I got myself ready we headed out and came upon the local farmers market. Of course needing to stop. We bought some baked goods, fruit, and dinner food.
Then we headed down the street to find a coffee shop. As usual Rocky had his coffee and I had my tea. The owner of the cafe was great company as we shared stories.
We left there and about 3 miles later I found a spot to get my hair cut. Which turned out to be a fun experience-with my outgoing hairdresser, with life stories herself and who was also interested in our adventures. Before sending us out of her shop we prayed together.
Once we hit the bike path headed to Sacramento we met all sort of cyclists. We rode on the path until the sun set and many others with loaded bikes where just getting onto the path as they were setting up their home for the night. It seems many homeless people in Sacremento have bikes and live like we do.
We didn't make it to the campsite we hoped for so we stopped and got a room at the Super 8 just as it was getting dark. Ate some dinner and went to sleep.
In the morning we did some laundry and headed out. I realized Davis was our next town of call, so I was excited to see a friend, Katie, who I haven't seen in probably 4 years. We met Katie in Davis California, a young college town. The ride from West Sacremento-Davis was not that scenic we were riding on a bike path along the highway.
We planned to just meet Katie for lunch, but she offered us a place to stay and we took her up on it. She had a lot of graduate school work to do, but we were happy to be in a home, bed, and I was really happy to see her. We slept in her roommates room which I loved since she had a rabbit. Throughout the night the rabbit would hop around on the bed, but I love it. (My rabbit passed away while I was on this trip)
After Davis we headed for SAN FRANSISCO....In the rain....
